My campaign for Health and Safety Officer is strongly built on a foundation of trust and collaboration.
I am proud to be supported by well respected union activists from across the country individuals with whom I've had the privilege of working alongside, learning from, and campaigning with initiatives like the 'Hands Off My Post Office' campaign.
Their support underscores my dedication to the health and safety of all members and again, my strong commitment to our collective well-being. These voices are crucial because they represent the very heart of our union's fight for a safer workplace. Being a third generation postal worker around union values has truly sculpted me into who I am today. 🤍
Endorsement Letter - Ashley May Health & Safety
"From the moment we met Ashley, and especially through our most recent experience with her in the Union Education Program, we knew she was someone special. As National Facilitators, we get to meet a lot of members, but every now and then, someone stands out because of the way they show up, the way they treat others, and the way they carry their values. Ashley is one of those people.
Working with her wasn’t just enjoyable; it was inspiring. She brought a level of honesty, curiosity, and courage into every conversation. When discussions got tough, she leaned in instead of stepping back. When others shared their experiences, she listened with genuine care. And when it came to health and safety, the heart of protecting workers, she spoke with clarity and conviction that came from lived experiences, not just theory.
What we appreciated most was her presence. Ashley has this grounded, steady way of making people feel heard and supported. She asks the questions others are afraid to ask. She notices the things that often get overlooked. And she always brings the conversation back to what matters: dignity and the right to go home safe.
We’ve seen her advocate for herself and others. We’ve seen her challenge assumptions respectfully, but firmly. And we’ve seen her step into leadership naturally, not because she wants a title, but because she genuinely wants to make things better for her fellow members.
That’s why we believe that Ashley will make an exceptional Health and Safety Officer. She has the heart, integrity, and the courage to do this work, and she has already shown us who she is when it counts.
We’re proud to stand behind her.
In Solidarity,"

Letter of Recommendation for Ashley May
"I would like to recommend and highly endorse Ashley May as a candidate for the position of health and safety officer for this mandate in the Winnipeg local executive election. I indeed fully support and recommend Ashley in her candidacy for the CUPW Winnipeg Local Health and Safety Officer position. To know Ashley May is to love and respect this great person.
Knowing Ashley for the past four years as a dear friend and ally, as well as working alongside Ashley as a facilitator, fellow Union Education Program classmate, and, recently, as members of the National Human Rights Committee, has been an honor and a privilege. She has continued to demonstrate strong leadership qualities. Ashley just joined the National Human Rights Committee, yet she already stepped up to take leadership responsibilities that others will not even attempt, although they have been there for several mandates.
Ashley’s true passion and dedication, however, remain health and safety issues. As a member of the Local Joint Health and Safety Committee in my local of Fort McMurray, AB, I can confidently say I know when someone cares about the welfare of others. Ashley’s strength and resilience in always looking for a solution instead of dwelling on the problem are compelling quality that shows strong character in times of difficulty. Ashley has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to worker safety, fairness, and collective responsibility. She is very serious about taking the health and safety issues of everyone around her seriously, not just a requirement, but as a shared duty to protect every worker and strengthen our workplaces.
In UEP, Ashley will be the first person to check on someone that was having a bad day or invite someone to hang out and talk about it if they are going through a difficult time or who might feel down because of a heavy union topic. She cares about mental health as well as physical health. someone who listens carefully to concerns, communicates clearly, and follows through. She is proactive in identifying hazards, knowledgeable about health and safety practices, and unafraid to speak up when something does not feel or isn’t right. Just as importantly, Ashley approaches these issues with respect and cooperation.
I see Ashley as someone who will help protect workers against management, as well as always focusing on the well-being of CUPW members. Ashley, as a young worker and advocate, continues to show leadership skills and engagement that I have never seen in other young workers. She is helpful and very resourceful. Asking for help when she needs it, giving help when other needs it, but also learning balance in every situation.
Ashley’s dedication, reliability, and union values make her well-suited for the role of Local Health and Safety Officer. I am confident that she would represent the Winnipeg Local with integrity and diligence and would be a strong advocate for safer working conditions for all members.
I strongly encourage you to join me in supporting Ashley May for the Health and Safety Officer position for the Winnipeg Local".

"Throughout my union experience, I have had the pleasure of seeing Ashley May at many union functions, whether it be educationals, conferences, or in committees.
Originally, I was somewhat leery of Ashley, coming from the shadow of a role model of mine, Myron May, I wondered whether she was genuine or just following in the footsteps and whether this was an honest, genuinely held passion or not.
Interacting with Ashley though it is clear to me she is voraciously a solid union activist. Whether it be in her role as one of the prairie representatives for the National Youth Committee, or whether it has been in her role as a union facilitator.
She truly has a passion for the membership and believes in empowering you. With Health and Safety, I can’t begin to tell you the stories of the struggles she has overcome, that have given her a deep empathy and perspective that is rare.
I fully recommend Ashley for the role of Local Health and Safety Officer."
